1 hole problems

I bought a Hohner Marine band crossover. Great sound and very easy to bend. But there’s one big problem. Sometimes it’s impossible to get a sound out of the one hole blow and the one hole draw is also very difficult and the tone is weak and “creaky”. (not as bad as one hole blow though.) I don’t know, it’s as if the reed is stuck or something. And it sort of comes and goes. All the other holes are just fine.

I don’t have any experience how to fix harmonicas whatsoever. Should I open it up? What shall look for? Any help is highly appreciated.

If there is a problem with the draw and Blow in the same hole (and it’s not only during a bend - both reeds are involved in bending) it’s a leak in that hole. You can hold it up to the light and look down in the holes, see if you can see light. That would be a sign of a leak, but you can’t always see them.

You could also go to hetrickharmonica.com and get a new comb for it.

How much light? I see some light in every hole on my new Hohner Spec 20.
