The music has come a long way since Little Walter most of the players I’ve mentioned combine pursing and blocking. Equally and they’ve taken the Chromonica to new heights ( if your a purser you might try the Chromonica it’s a lot of fun)
Just a few more to check out in your free time :
Meliza Blanco, Wallace Coleman, Jimmy Dewrance, Robson Fernandes, Quique Gomez, Flávio Guimarães, Andy Just, Aki Kumar, Paul Lamb, Jean Jacques Milteau, R J Mischo, Mátyás Pribojszki, Victor Puertas, Bharath Rajakumar, Ryan Ramos, Andy Santana, Natacha Seara, Indiara Sfair, Nico Smoljan, Steve ‘West’ Weston
So many to follow. All great players – US, South America, Canada and Europe. Most are on YouTube if you want to see.
And there’s a great kid (18) out of Perth, AU, Elwood Birgden. Not running his own band for a living yet, but watch out!
And you said to include your own band. Not working right now but you’ll find Kevin Greenwood – “She Knocks Me Out” (CD) streaming and on YouTube. All originals, no rehearsals, great musicians, my debut at 72.
Yes, I’ve heard of many of these but there’s a few I’ve got to check out, As you sent me your CD I know it’s a quality recording. Songwriting harp playing is all great.
I actually do play a little bit of chromatic, but the chromatic community on Facebook is so forceful about telling that I have to play with tongue blocking only and blues chromatic songs are so strictly tongue blocked licks only that it discourages me to pick it up. I like the chromatic, but I hate the chromatic community.
I like it!
Take no notice, most of the blues guys I like do both and say there is room for both. They don’t say you’ve got to tongue block.
I myself tongue block but not everything it’s mix and match so I can vary my sound as much as possible, I’ve heard you play on that footage you posted it sounded great to me. There are some incredible pursers out there, I’d suppose these idiots would be telling them how to play too.
I think it’s a really cool album and the songwriting is fantastic, it’s really well out together and of course everyone on it is West Coast.
@KeroroRinChou thank you for making and sharing the Spotify playlist. Can’t wait to check it out!
