hi there

eBay had “Delta Blues” harmonicas as a featured deal the other day, so on a whim I bought one. I love the sound of a well-played harmonica, and I love the blues, so I figured why not take a shot at learning to play it? I used to play trombone in high school and college so I have a bit of musical background, but the way the harmonica is played is fairly foreign to me.

(an advantage of the harmonica over the trombone: it’s quiet enough that you can practice it in an apartment without cheesing off the neighbors.)

I stumbled on this page looking around on the Internet for some beginner tips. I’m glad I found it.

I’m still working on developing the proper embouchure to consistently produce single notes. I seem to detect some slight improvement.

Welcome to the Forum! That single note will come to you, don’t give up!

Howdy!

Plenty of help for Single Note Playing around here.

Just do a search and you’ll find them…

These two will get you started though:

Welcome!

Good Luck!

Keep On Harpin’!

Don’t sweat the single note, just chug away and get the embouchure and the breath control down.

Anybody can do fine on the harp!

Best of Luck, and Peace Out!
