How Not to Rush (The Cure for Premature Articulation)

I wish I could make this commitment with confidence so I won’t. I have always but a rush it type person as i spent too much time in traffic and airports. That being said I listen to a tune more times than I can count. Only when I know the rhythm, lyrics, etc. do I start to play the song as it should be. Stated otherwise unless I know the tune well does it really start to sound respectable. I started at 68 and knew only how to spell music and that is it.

Timing and single notes are primary objectives as are doubles and triples. Many say why wait and its a legit ?. I always love to be outside and had plenty of . Why start a journey at 68? I feel that practicing what I need at least two hours a day 7/364. I spend twice the time those that still work and work at least a learning as most. This equates to my starting at 34. What is my point. playing to fast is tough for me and I know its of no benefit. I did play El Pasa Condor and slowed down to the tabs shown. It seemed as if I were taking forever but I hit the rhythm right and my breathing much better. Will it be easy to break this habit? No but I am making progress and remember well your emphasizing slow is the way to go. I will commit to this and break this habit as its getting in my way. Good habits and bad ones are both hard to break. When I get through this I will make the commitment you ask but only when I feel slowing down a bit more is just part of the way I play but you are correct with respect to the essence of doing it.

I will close by all that bothered reading this with two questions. Do you have to know the tune inside and out to play it right? Is this just the way it is?
