So I just discovered I like third position. I have been playing it for about 2-3 days now.
Here is a 3rd position blues (D on a C harp) that I came up with - I am not the best at playing blues, but let me know what you think!

Nice one, @Dk360 ! Third position is really fun, isnβt it? What I find most difficult is improvising with the blues scale at the low end where it is a little tricky to get the -3" and also the -3β" to come over with good separation. But it is really worth the effort to master it.
It is fun! I really enjoy it.
I started messing about with it when I started learning the Chrominica that gave me a real insight to play 3rd position. Now I have a go at songs in all 3 positions ( I know thereβs 9 others but Iβm not entirely sure how theyβd work for blues) but yes I do enjoy it.
If play about a dozen tunes and have found out several are in various positions. I played Ghost riders and was told it was in 12th position. I did not know there were that many at the time. I read several pages of a good book and understand the circle of 5th. I was looking at a C harp notes layout and realized if I wanted to play in second find the tonic note, for G and start there. I still know little but the more I play the more it starts to sink in a very hard head.
