It is great that you are trying different things and posting them here! Unfortunately not much feedback has been coming your way – so I thought that I would try to give you my suggestion(s).

I would strongly suggest that you use a metronome and try to maintain a steady rhythm. Music always has a rhythm and without it your playing sounds … unmusical. Please take this not as a personal insult, but as an important guidance that will vastly improve your impressions upon the listener.

Musicians frequently talk about the groove or the pocket, and how important it is to be there. This is sort of what I am meaning. Listen to some of the videos on YouTube from Jason Ricci, Ronnie Shellist and our very own @Luke. Notice how they all have a cadence (rhythm) that is maintained and is fundamental to the production of music.

I do not wish to go on too long about this, so check out their YouTube lessons and use a metronome. Notice how they maintain a steady cadence in their music.

Thank you for the advice, I very much appreciate it. I’ve been meaning to acquire a metronome but haven’t gotten around to it. Today, however, I will order one without a doubt as I am absolutely wanting to improve and I definitely take what you’re saying to heart. Thank you again!

WAIT !! There is no need to “order” a metronome! There are many good ones available for free for Android or iPhone users.

I am happy that you did not take offense at my suggestions. Thank you.

Yes, I actually realized that shortly after responding to you and immediately downloaded a great metronome app for free. And absolutely, I do my best to never take offense to constructive criticism as I realize it’s key to improvement, so I definitely appreciate you taking the time to tell me your thoughts and advice.
