I have never played one…Sorry
Hi @Kristi_fox
Don’t know about the tremolo.
The bending topic has been discussed a lot on the forum. Type bending into the search and you’ll find plenty of info.

Something I’m real interested in is, when it comes to tremolo harps, is there a major difference between what a tremolo harp “does” and in simply playing multiple (2-3 holes) on a “normal” diatonic harp?
Check out the wikipedia article about tremolo harps. It will probably answer your questions better than most blues harpists could.
Thanks for sharing
@yrurythebest Here’s my article explaining the difference between diatonic, tremolo, and chromatic.
Tremolo’s usually are tuned to solo tuning.
@Kristi_fox They’re not conducive to bending.
@wproct just shared this sweet tremolo performance by Mickey Raphael:
I have 3 Tremolo harmonicas. I can’t really help you with the technicalities - I just really like the sound and the range of notes available on the instrument!
Oooo, tremelo!
Been playing one since I was 8 years old. Bought several Hohner Echo harps from Germany at the Navy PX(dad was american vice counsel) .
Never practiced never needed to. They are all in a major scale! You just move around and don’t balk and occasionally stop or start on the root note. Double reeds, toungueing , all works! I NEVER practice or play the same thing twice. I am on my way to my bathroom to take a shower, whatever and there it is sitting on my kitchen counter. Hmmm. I pick it up and something new comes out that sounds like I just wrote a song!
I get on stage at the open mic and that night I decided to not play my guitar or songs just the Tremelo. Boom I jam away, get off the stage and several people ask me “what song was that"?” Ha! Like me and my attention deficit are going to practice anything. No. It’s like social dancing, if you keep moving it will look/sound like you know what you are doing! I never even new they were called Tremelo. Haha.
Oh, playing guitar at the same time requires a little practice (rub stomach pat head sort of thing.)
I have one and do the same kind of improv on it. Not often but I do love it.
