I have some experience which helps me to relate. I’ve played many bar gigs where I made only $100 or $150 for playing for 3 hours for incredibly enthusiastic people who were so engaged, dancing, smiling, singing along, and I’ve played many corporate gigs at weddings where I make $500 - $1500 for rich people who seemed all but oblivious to the music!
What an interesting paradox that the people who can afford to pay the higher price don’t seem to enjoy the music as deeply!

These people are mostly not interested in music at all – their only focus is making money and promoting themselves.

Another interesting thing about that song is, for a tile being the “Piano Man” there is a hell of a lot of HARMONICA in it!
