Cheap harmonica for customization

Hi guys,
I would like to learn how to customize harmonica. I don’t want to start with my main instruments (special 20, manji, MB delux etc…). What are the cheaper models I could start with?

You could do anHohner Blues Band.

IS there a limitation with harps like blues band or the response can be improved in a same manner as the more expensive options?

Well, @Adam1 , let’s put it this way: No one will be able to make a $10 harp sound as good as a $100 harp. But the techniques you apply when trying to accomplish this feat are the same ones you would apply when improving the $100 harp. The main difference is that you can destroy some of your harps while learning the techniques and acquiring the manual skills needed for customization. I personally would rather destroy several $10 harps while learning these skills before starting to work on even a $50 harp.

Yea, you are right… but wondering for example if I am able with reedwork achieve stable overblows on 10$ harmonica or it’s not possible because reeds are from bad material or something like that

Hi @Adam1 ,
Really cheap harps can sometimes be impossible to significantly improve. Maybe your best option is to look at the lower end mid-price models from established companies, such as Hohner, Seydel, Suzuki or Conjurer. They have more consistent quality control and have reasonable prices.
