Chromatic or solo tuned diatonics?

I put some of this in my introduction but it seems to have disappeared.
Most of the time I play melody or counter point and find solo tuned diatonics more useful than the Richter tuned that I use almost exclusively for blues. Rather than having at least 12 solo tuned diatonics I use six chromatics in Ab; Bb; C; D; E and F# and by holding in the slide it also gives me solo tuned diatonics in A; B; Db; Eb; F and G, all 12 solo tuned keys in 6 instruments. As a plus I have the six harmonicas to play as chromatics. Some other simple things that I’ve found useful are (1) By wrapping a couple of layers of rubberised self amalgamating tape around the back of chromatic covers it gives more grip and doesn’t stick to the instrument and (2) All my 10 hole Richter diatonics have carefully placed white plastic tape with the key on it just over the low note end of the comb, this has saved me from picking them up the wrong way round on a dark stage, that only happened once, never again!

The introduction post has now shown up so this is a bit of duplication. Jay1
