Cover not meeting the comb/reed plates on EastTop T008L

I just received an EastTop T008L. The cover has a space between it and the comb/reed plates and - maybe - the comb/reed plate(s) are not flat. Photos are attached.
Is it feasible for me to repair this harmonica?

I felt sorry for the company and accepted a $6 refund, making the total cost with tax less than $11. I’m a beginner. I can easily hit all the notes on it, so I figure it’ll be good enough to practice on, especially if I can tinker with it to repair it to some extent. Also, I enjoy tinkering and it would give me practice for future harps.

I’ve never been one to complain, except possibly to not do business with the company again, but seriously?? I’d call the $6.00 refund a slap in the face. they did no-one a favor there IMHO.

I had both a reed plate and face plate that were not correct. The face plates require a flat table. I put both down and looked through with a light to see where there was a problem. The angles that the hold down screws were not @ 90 bends. So I adjusted them. It appears your face plates ae off. The top right picture shows one that is over the plate. I would try to bend it back in place before going through the hassle of sending it back. There is a harp tach the Rockin Ron recommended to me. he does things right and is more than fair. First name is Dennis and I highly recommend him. You might send him the harp and let him go through it. When you get it back it will be straight, gapped and tuned correctly.

Thank you!
The company gave me a full refund. I can try what you said. I do like to tinker!
Plus, I ordered a Kongsheng Mars and another T008, this time the K version in black.

How about getting a good harmonica now so you will not have to upgrade in a few months?

That does depend on how hard you blow and draw through it When I started out there were no sites like this I got through a lot of terrible Hohner’s and and not a few Lee Oskars because I hadn’t got a clue what I was doing. Those are pretty expensive harps to be blowing out. I wish I’d have had East Tops back then. I wouldn’t have minded so much

Attention à cette version en noir.
Parfois l’écriture des petits chiffres se sent sous les lèvres.
De plus pour l’avoir essayé, je trouve que la couleur noir ne glisse pas bien.

Bienvenue sur le forum.
If mr google got that right it’s:

Pay attention to this black version.
Sometimes the writing of small numbers can be felt under the lips.
Moreover, having tried it, I find that the black color does not slide well.

Never had a problem with them myself

@AliOwl welcome to the forum! I think you’ll be MUCH more happy with the 008k!!! Glad you were able to get a refund. It won’t bankrupt them, I promise. Rock on! :sunglasses:
