Crossover custom combs

Still trying to find who has the best aftermarket combs for the Crossover. I like the idea of one but want nothing to do with wood at this point. Andrew Zajac comb? Pretty sure they are wood though. And then how about the Blue Moon combs? Any other options?

I have two Crossovers and the Andrew Zajac dark brown combs he sells are the best for your harp as they are what I have in mine. I can dip my harp in alcohol and in 20 seconds it is clean. I will never have a balsa comb again. They are the best fit and sound great. Like any reed plate rotate the comb over some 220 wet and dry sand paper on both sides to make sure its flat. I doubt you will get one that is not straight but nothings perfect.

Blue moon is the way to go if you want something other than wood. He has Corrian, brass, aluminum, plastic and resin composites.

I’ve been happy with my Todd Parrott combs, and he’ll even install them for you. $100 for a crossover and his comb that you select. He doesn’t mess with the reeds, but he does a little work to make sure the coverpaltes are all nice and air tight. I’ve been very happy.

have you ever used HARPSMITH to customize a harp?. I started using him and when he sends one back it will be right. I sent him my favored Crossovers and they play about as good as one can but not me. He does things right and is a pleasure to deal with.

No I’ve never used him, but I’ve heard lots of good things!

He is as good as you can get. Pleasant, fair and never got a harp back from him that pays great. He tuned every note right and he will emboss if you want it.

Just came across this thread albeit it’s a tad old. A few months ago, even though I’m only into playing the harmonica (or trying to) since last June I decided to purchase a Blue Moon Acrylic comb for my Special 20. Looks beautiful, but regretfully after about one week of using it I decided to take it off as I realized, at least for me, that the holes are way too small and restrictive! After some time I decided to place it back on and give it another try, but again, I found it to be extremely difficult to use because of the small holes. But, that’s just my personal take on them and I would imagine that others have no issue with them whatsoever.
