Hi. New to harmonica and the group. I have some better harmonicas (Special 20. , MS, Hohner Blues Deluxe), but I happened to pull out an old Hohner Blues Band, and the one hole was choking on the draw. Since it is a $10 harmonica I figured I could use it to begin learning harmonica tuning and repair. I was able to fix the one hole, but ended up screwing up the two hole draw. I tried different things (using a very thin feeler gauge to make sure the reed was centered in its slot), and it is almost back, but it plays too “smooth”. I can’t hear or feel that rough sound of the reed traveling back and forth. I also tried tuning the reed and got it a little too high, then too low, and now the pitch is about right, but the raspiness/vibration is not. Where are resources for diy harmonica maintenance? I’ve watched a few YouTube videos, but they aren’t answering my questions.
