The list goes on but for the main part it’s listening to what the studio people want played, getting it into my head where it rarely stays but these are just a few I enjoy playing. Jay1
I used to be with a band that did another brick in the wall and I played slide on it ( it went on for about four days or seemed like it. Not a Floyd fan at all.)
There where days I wished I was doing anything else! It was not a great experience the guitarist who formed the band with his wife, was a very extreme controlling narcissist, he would verbally and psychologically abuse his wife. I stepped in several times and told him to knock it off. I’m usually a pretty laid back happy go lucky guy but his behavior was just unacceptable. He got drunk one night, he left myself and his wife to load up the van while he stood bragging about how cool he was in the bar ( another thing I find distasteful) then he came outside started to throw his weight around.
My Marine side kicked in, I kicked his butt something I hate to do but I believed the time had come for instruction on good manners and drove his wife home, then I drove myself home. He had to walk several miles home.
Needless to say I left the band that night and I recommended that his wife find a solicitor.
But I think she was institutionalized if that’s the right word?
It was then I decided to put my own band together I had a pretty good country rock band. I might put some songs up other than blues that we used to do.

another brick in the wall
[/quote] OK you don’t like Brick but try it on a chrom, doesn’t matter what key there’s no slide work and it starts on draw 1 then blow 2, then draw2 then blow 2 and once you’ve got that follow the music in your head, it’s a fun piece, Should be playing The Kinks Sunny Afternoon having just finalised my VAT figures as an unpaid tax collector
Jay1
Love Sunny afternoon by the Kinks, I just can’t do Floyd, really don’t like their music, although it might sound good on a Kazoo On your list there I love Summertime before I started courting my wife I saw her sing Summertime with a jazz rock band and that was it head over heels!! Georgia on my mind has always been a great song. I saw a Blues man Lucky Lopez do this song 15 times in one night he was absolutely hammered:joy:
he didn’t have a clue what he was doing! I love Gangsters if it’s the one by the Specials your talking about I love Ska and Reggae. My best friend is a Rastafarian he’s played with all those bands from Coventry, I’ve played with him for years, I do a few with him when he does a reggae/ ska night. I do Too much, pressure, ghost town, Gangsters, Three minute hero, and a Reggae version of stand by me which I sing lead on. I sing backing on all the others.
I was dealing with a case in Monaco and staying in a hotel near the Fort Antoine amphitheatre. One morning very early needing to clear my head so walked down to the bottom of the amphitheatre and with nobody about (I thought) played one of my favorites the aria Un bel dì vedremo from Madame Butterfly. There was some unexpected clapping, a group of tourists were at the top of the stone seats and the only way out was to walk by them

One of my favourites:
Some day the sun won’t shine for you - A blues with Jethro Tull - Con bendometer - YouTube
That is Beautiful Madame Butterfly is wonderful. I love Gilbert and Sullivan but it wouldn’t make much impact without the lyrics
Yes, that is Very cool, I do love Jethro Tull, a prog/folk band that never took themselves too seriously. But boy were they great musicians and perfomers
Still recording and performing. Maybe no longer classic Tull but I have all their albums anyway! Even the newer ones.
Me too!
Yes, very cool, I can’t tell if he’s blocking or pursing but it’s a nice sound.
Harp and Flute (Ian inspired, well actually Roland Kirk inspired) Here’s my take
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmOGG3qE-BE
Very nice, I’m not a judge of flute but the Harp playing is terrific. When I was offered a free instrument for my recuperation one of the instruments was a flute. But I chose harp after seeing Corky Siegal in a Blues documentary. It was the right decision although, I can play Recorder and penny Whistle, and many other instruments ( although I was playing very bad punk guitar in my youth) now it was mainly due to harp I decided to have a crack at other instruments ( now I play guitar and slide guitar pretty well) and it gave me a love of the blues
Really nice, @dblues !! I could listen to that all night long !
Best regards,
– Slim
