Fun fact: before this song, there were two Alan Jackson songs with harmonica in them. Both songs featured Terry McMillan on the harp. The songs were “Where I Come From” and “Drive”.
The first one featured Terry’s signature playing style without him being too wild, but still soulful sounding.
The other one featuring a more traditional playing style.
Both of them have really tasteful harmonica playing from Terry.
Hey @fpilot172 - Welcome to the forum my friend! No, due to the lack of response on this post I’ve never made a lesson. I did transcribe it to memory, but never tabbed it out. Think I should do a lesson on it? Anyone else out there interested?
Hey @KeroroRinChou wow Alan Jackson looks so young on the When Somebody Loves You album cover! This song has been on my “contemporary country” playlist I made years ago, but I never knew it was Terry playing on it! So cool.
I knew it was Terry due to some of the licks having growls in them. I heard this was long before I knew who he was, but I recognized that growl from “Ain’t Goin’ Down” and that was when I thought that it was the same player as on that track, because if listening to country music all my life has done for me is that whenever you hear a harmonica growl, it’s Terry McMillan.
