Harmonica cover plate screws

Can anyone tell me the size of Hohner’s cover plate screws and the nuts, I’ve been trying to track down what size they are and have come up with so many variables it’s driving me crazy trying to get a suitable replacement for the dreadful set up they provide ( and over charge for the replacements.) I just want a simple screw and hex nut that’s going to do the job.

Google up Rockin Ron. he sells all the Hohner parts and each harp has screws that are slightly different. I bought about ten so if one gets away I have plenty more. They are not cheap but if one is lost with no replacement in hand getting a replacement takes some time.

Well if they’re not cheap for you they’ll be doubly expensive for me as I’m in the UK. It would cost a fortune in taxes. I just want something that does the job so far I’m switching all the screws off my old cheaper Chinese harps and they work better than that awful little nut. They also look better it may work out cheaper just to buy these harps and use em a customizing experiments and just switch the screws. I can understand why Cheap Chinese harps have better screws than Hohner and yet they charge the same price for 4 screws than an entire Chinese harp. It strikes me as a massive con trick

It is. How many plate screws do you need. I do not have many but if a screw and receiving nut let me know.

That’s kind of you but I wouldn’t want to put you to any trouble I think it’s a case of trial and error.I need to find a good supply for my own custom work

Hi @scott4 it turns out where I live is one of the biggest manufacturing centers in the world for screws, ( who knew :frowning_with_open_mouth:!) and around the corner on an industrial estate near where my wife used to work, there’s a big warehouse full of different screws so tomorrow I’ll have a wander up there I’ll take a harp, and the screws I need if they haven’t got exactly what I want they may have a work around. Or they might know of a company that makes em, being a Warehouse they might sell me a huge bulk box at trade price.

Good luck as the manufactures cut their threads very close to avoid a third party selling the parts at much lower prices.

As long it’s a screw and a nut and it fits looks ok it will work. atm I use my Chinese harps cover screws on Hohner’s and they work fine. They look good too, But I’m looking towards the point when I’ve used all those up.
