I saw the Forum posts from back in 2023-24 about @Luke ’s top 3 harp holders. All are neck holders. I just saw a video of Hamilton Loomis from 2012 that shows a harp holder mounted to a mic stand. What is that?? I haven’t seen anything like it. Seems like it would be more convenient and allow more freedom of movement than a neck holder. Thanks for any advice/ideas! Yeah, the most important thing with the Mike clip stuff is having the Mike stand screwed into a board that you stand on so that it doesn’t move. That’s the whole key to making that thing work and I learned that from Madcat Ruth.

Thanks @thunder58! Very interesting setup, and it does look like the one I saw in that Hamilton Loomis video. It’s pretty expensive, but the design addresses some issues that other harmonica holders have.
@Luke, have you seen this holder? What do you think? Is it really worth the money? If I’m going to buy a holder, I want it on a free-standing one rather than the traditional neck holders.

@Jim3Mix - Yeah I’ve got a Raickt!2.0 and they’re fantastic for sure. As the site explains they have Bulletini’s in them, so it’s a great dark amplified sound. It’s what Juzzie Smith uses (on a rack.)
And I believe the MadCat video I was referencing above is on that page somewhere. It’s the device that he was using with the mic stand attachment.
Again, the most important thing that you need to do for this configuration work is to bolt down the mic stand to a piece of wood that you stand on. If you don’t do that, I don’t think you will ever have a good time.
The competition to the Racket!2.0 that you’ll want to consider is the DynaMic Nighthawk.
I think I shared with you already the video of me checking it out at SPAH a couple of years ago, right?
The advantages are:
1.) You can get a cleaner Sound than you can with the racket. there’s a knob with which you can dial in from dirty to clean, which is really handy if you’re wanting to do any clean sounding stuff.
The Racket!2.0 says you can take the sides off for cleaner sound, but in my experience taking them off and putting them back on is too difficult to do on a gig.
2.) it’s got the option to be able to use the little thing so that you can get a hand wah sound through it, which is really cool.
3.) Less prone to feedback. (Though feedback isn’t much of a problem with the Racket!2.0 because the bulletini is such a dark microphone it’s not very prone to feedback.)
Just bearing mind that the nighthawk is more expensive than it seems because you also have to buy the gasket for whatever shape that matches the brand of Harmonica are using. So if you’re using multiple brands of Harmonica, you have to buy multiple gaskets. If you’re only using one Harmonica not too bad, but if you’re using a lot of different brands that could be a hassle.
