I imagine there is scope on any instrument where you teach yourself by just playing what seems right?
My wife taught herself guitar. When she started she tuned the strings how it felt right to her. The tuning she chose is unusual and does have a name (“All 4ths”) but she didn’t know about that name till much later.
I will add that design to my inventory!! Love it
Haha. Johan, I was going to ask if anybody actually does this. Living in Wyoming, I have long stretches of road (sometimes 4-5 hours from A to B) and thought it might be a good thing for solo trips.
@JohnnyMercer yeah man most of my practicing happens in the car!!!
Now you tell me! ![]()
@HarpinBobbyMcB OOHHHHH WOWWWWWWW!!! ![]()

@AdamWest posted this. My ducks don’t sing along like this but sometimes my magpies do. I’ll try to get a video but this is wonderful.
Any mustached guitar players here who can relate to constantly dealing with mustache hairs getting plucked out by the top cover plate lol. I find this problem particularly bad when playing on a marine band lol. I might start waxing my mustache to keep it at bay lol
Yep, I trim my goatee to avoid this as much as possible1
had this idea today:
Like, make a surgical incision on the side of the cheek (like an ostomy hole that you can close with a cap or something when not in use) and when you play the harmonica you can connect a pipe attached to a pump to get rid of the excess spit NO ONE STEAL MY IDEA!
A “sound” idea.
This is absolutely hilarious and painfully relatable.
That’s pretty bad…I get it😁
