Hobo mic

Has anyone made or used a hobo mic? Thinking about making one this weekend. Whats your experience with them? Thanks Eric

I can’t find what that is. Search brought up lots of really different things. Can you post a picture? Also maybe film the production process? Sounds really interesting.

Hobo mic or more commonly called tin can mic. Made with old soup cans with a guitar pick up.

I make mine out of roll-on deodorant containers. Drill two 1/4" holes in the bottom and punch put the ball. Fill the lid with tiny holes. Add an old telephone earpiece (not the mouthpiece!) as the element (perfect fit in some roll-on brands) and add a 1/4" jack and a volume pot in the bottom. Not hi Z, but works a treat.

@Maka, That’s cool I enjoy seeing how creative people can get with things like this. I’m not very good with electronics especially soldering, but this makes me want to try and make a version of my own lol.
