How to Sound Pro at Blues Harp (Solid Turnaround & Ending Licks that Beginners Can Play)

Luke Sounding Like a Pro on Harmonica

I’ve heard it often said that the LAST thing that YOU play

…is the FIRST thing the LISTENERS will remember.

Moral of the story?

You wanna finish strong!

:muscle:

And this is why, if you memorize some…

:arrow_right: interesting turnaround riffs and

:arrow_right: killer endings

…your harmonica solos instantly start sounding more polished, more professional, and most importantly, MORE FUN TO LISTEN TO!!!

Yo Luke what the heck is a “turnaround?”

For our purposes here, today I’m using the term TURNAROUND simply to refer to:

THE LAST 2 Bars of the 12-Bar blues

(the 2 bars that turn us around back to the top)

:point_right:If the form’s gonna be repeated again, the LAST 2 BARS are the TURNAROUND.

:point_right:If it’s time to bring the ship into harbor, the LAST 2 BARS are the ENDING.

:point_right:Turnarounds and endings are very closely related to each other.

:point_right:They happen in the same 2 bars.
