I just got in the mail two new harmonica brands I’ve been wanting to try. I got a Seydel Session Steel and a Suzuki Promaster valved to to see what they are like. Got them on black Friday deal so that always helps with cost and experimenting with new gear. I can’t wait to try them next rehearsal.
i have a complete set of Seydel 1847. I have had them for about 4 years now and i really like them! I have one Session Steel and i would never buy another one as its not a good harp. I even gap it a few times and it did not make it play the way my 1847’s play. I have or had one Promaster from many years ago! That harp if i remember right it had black cover plates which i really liked. It was also a good harp
@Ed_Calcutt thanks for your reply. I hope I have a better experience with the session steel. I can’t wait to try them our band is on Christmas break but I’m going to try find time to practice with them both. Unfortunately when I try to practice at home my daughter’s dachshund howls lol and it makes it hard to practice. I hope that’s not a sign of how bad I am lol.
I have no idea if you even know how to play harps at all! Have you never played one before? If i was a beginner i would not be starting out with Seydel as they are stainless steel reeds. These SS reeds are a lot tougher then brass reeds. also a lot stiffer harder to get vibrating! The old Suzuki Promasters i have are not valved! I have never really gotten into playing valved or even halfvalved harps. I do know they are suppose to be easier to get good notes out of. Also the best person to buy them from is RockingRons in California. He is Hohner’s top dealer an a real good guy with good prices an quick shipping of what ever you buy from him Rockin Rons Music – RockinRonsMusic
@Ed_Calcutt Yes I know how to play harps, but I’m by far no expert. I’m not starting out with either of types/brands harmonicas. I posted that I bought two new ones to try something new and different. I usually play Hohner special 20, big river or rocket amp. I have several other brands as well. I live in San Diego California and have purchased several things from Rockin Ron’s he is a great great guy and customer service is great. I have been playing in a band for over 2 1/2 years, I play harmonica, percussion, sing and write songs. But I don’t claim to be an expert in any of those. I enjoy it and like to try new gear.
