Introducing myself to the members

I’m hitting 75 next year, and after trying trombone, fiddle, [Silvertone] guiitar, bass guitar, flute, synthesizers [Arp Odyssey; Ensoniq TS-10], Employment moved me schedules which left me little free time for anything but exhaustion and/or frazzle.: housepainting, record/tape store manager, going back to school for 6 years, software engineering jobs [Tektronix; Intel, Mentor Graphics; Network General; Cypress Sewmiconductor] before the crash (up in Oregon) which preceded the dot-com crash everywhere else. Now, free of work (and income and a fully-flexible body), I’m focusing on playing harmonica once again… but for the first serious time on any instrument. Very charged up about it! I’ve become interested in several varieties: Seydel Blues Solist Pro Harmonica (C); Lee Oskar Harmonica Harmonic (Minor A); East Top “Lucky 13” Bass plus Blues Harmonica, 13-Hole Diatonic (G); Seydel Nonslider Chromatic (G). My setup requires a hands-free mic, so I’ve settled on finding a combo which will connect to a Tama “boom” mic stand or to my Hohner FlexRack. So far, a bit disappointing: the Dyna-Mic “Nighthawk” is quite expensive at $340; I cannot get any calls through (all abandoned phone numbers) or email replies back from either Buckeye Music (regarding their “Tsunami” product) or from the “Frank” harmonica microphone via rokemneedlearts.com (for one each of their diatonic and chromatic models). The old Strnd and Kent WC-41 can not be pre-tested for sustained durability or any replacement pasrtts be found, so I’m in a lull. A definite “no” on the bulb mics (e,g., Shure, Hohner) which dominate with kill-innovation products advertised over and over on unimaginative site distribution sites like like Amazon, Sweetwater, and Guitar Center, who carrty the same things and few things they aren;t told to sell by their Blackrock controllers Reverb pulls searches to dead ads and Sweetwater says they have whatever is in your search string but actually never have anything like it. Suggestions welcomed as to buying a Strnd-revisited mic system. Also, I would like to learn about re-setting pitch to 432Hz from 440Hz. That is where I am after decades of hearing The Blues Project, The Sonics, and The Yardbirds, I’ve scheduled an hour-per-day starting on New Year’s Day no matter what, giving me time to wrap up all other projects of 2025.. I look foward to learning from and sharing with members, as we interact on our oscillation adventures.

Welcome @frankfenderbender hope someone is able to assist you with your microphone search. I have found when I come across gear especially harmonica microphones, a lot of the stuff I find are no longer made or the company no longer exists, Which can bum me out when I’m interested in possibly purchasing them. Anyway I think you will enjoy this forum lots of great people here to help and enjoy the harmonica.

Hi

Great introduction. Cant help with the mic thing sorry. Someone will I’m sure. I bought mic and stand together. I don’t use it much.

Welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the forum. One of the things we share is our age, only I have you beat a little bit as I just turned 80 this year. I’m strictly a casual, play for enjoyment kind of person. I’m sure you are gonna enjoy this forum.

Thanks for verifying what I’m experiencing. I’m starting to look for auctions, closeouts, bankrupt company sales, and eBay, so it will resolve sooner or later. if I give it time and patience. I appreciate and already enjoy the forum. Let me know if there’s anything to keep my eyes open for whilst I am in my search-mode, okay? Best wishes.

Now I know who to ask for their time-oriented wisdom viewpoints. I’;; also be a “casual” as my creaks and groans will scare away the world of bandmates. Alas, the solitudal play-along with the early morning freight tain and the birds will be fine, and if I can solfeggio my notes just right, neighbors will smile as they dog-walk down the street. Hey, if I’m really lucky, I may discover how to fend off 5G, drone circuitry, and dead-eyed NPCs. We shall see. Thanks for the candle count. Best wishes.

You’re prepared at worst. Entrepreneurial imaginative types are having a difficult time so products and companies fade faster it seems (or it’s just my focus, heh). The proximity will probably not require electroni assistance but I am interested in making some tunes for my prose-poetry web pages and any videos I may learn to create for my open video library. That’s down the road a ways, so I better go take my supplements now so I grow a bit younger each day. Best wishes.
