Just talkin' - Minor Harps

I have a box full of harps and always figured I had most of the bases covered. And I’ve had some success, or luck, playing minor keys using major harps in 3rd, or 4th position but I’m not good at it. I learned long ago that playing minor keys with minor-tuned harmonicas was the way to go. I have several brands of harmonicas, but Lee Oskars have been my “go-to’s” for many years – for reasons I’ve mentioned on this forum. Then my friend, Josh, wrote a beautiful song in B flat minor! I mean, really?

That’s a harp I didn’t have, until Josh then handed me a new one. Thanks, man! A friend in need is a friend, indeed.

Yeah, @Trapper I’m with you! I LOVE my minor harps!!! So much fun to play those big fat minor chords. And still to also have that beautiful -45 trill.

I do love playing 3rd position and even 4th as you said. But something about those minor harps is magic to me too man!! Good friend in deed. Rock on! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses::oncoming_fist:t3:

I’ve got a number of Lee Oscar minor key harps that I’ve had for years - admittedly I only play one or two songs with them in a set but at least my Am and Dm harps I’ve had for way over twenty years. Also, way back then no one else was selling minor key harps. I’m always surprised when people dis Lee Oskar’s, which was also the first brand to sell replacement reeds - a boon for hard up harp players.
