Lee Oscar mustache grabber cure

OUCH. what a disappointment when I played my new Lee Oscar for the first time today. I have a fairly prominent mustache and within the first few notes I had a harmonica painfully hanging on my face suspended by mustache hairs. with a bit of mirror magic I determined the hairs were being grabbed along the front edge between the cover plate (or perhaps the brass reed plate) and the comb. by loosening the cover screws the cover plate was able to be slid forward in the slop of the screw hole just enough, and then retightened, to close up the small gap. time will tell but it seems to be MUCH improved now. here’s a before and after.

Yeah I had that problem with my harps too I tried sculpting my moustache so that the gaps by passed the hair, I cut my beard and moustache shorter, that didn’t work, finally I shaved it all off, the upshot lots of people have said I look younger it’s knocked the age and weight off my face. Only one person has said she preferred my beard. Bonus my wife loves it says it’s less prickly when I kiss her. I’ve heard you can fill the holes in the cover plates with dental wax or bees wax but I can’t say whether it’ll affect the sound. It may even improve Lee Oskers I find them a bit bright for my liking filling the holes might dampen them down a bit

I really like the sound of my Lee Oskar low C harp, but I have the same issue with loosing lip hair, and that REALLY hurts and is a major distraction. This seems to be an issue with the brand. I wanted to find a way to continue to play this instrument without wanting to throw it in trash so I think I have a solution.
I bought some silver sealing wax from Amazon and dripped some wax on the place that I have found my face pubes. That should work until I have to open and work on the thing.

yup. I’ve added a dab of bees wax to mine which seems to be taking care of the last 10% of the grabbers.
