Is there a video out there on how to most quickly memorize a song? I’ve made great progress on the Beginner to Boss lessons, technique is doing great, but I’d like to have some songs to play off the top of my head.
Hi
Welcome to the forum.
My top tips for memorising.
Be able to hum or sing the whole tune really well. You must know it before you can play it.
Be relaxed when learning it. Distractions will inhibit data storage. Headphones help. Play it over and over until you know which note comes next before it does.
Learn to write out the tune in what ever format you use. Write it iut a few times. Then as you play you can visualise the script.
If it’s a song the words help you remember the notes. Use karaoke backing tracks. The words are prompts and the music makes you sound better than you are which makes you happy and inspires you to continue.
All that being said we are all different.

Welcome @coreyh22 I’m glad to hear you’re making good progress. The harmonica will open a whole new world for you.
The short answer is to play the song over and again until it’s etched into your brain. Eventually it will stick and you won’t have to think about it anymore, you’ll just play it. Ive found that it’s better to practice it, say, 5 times a day for 7 days rather than 35 times in one day, it takes some time for your brain to wire it up. I agree with @toogdog comments, choose songs that you already know, i.e. you know the lyrics and can sing it or hum it in your head.
Welcome I picked songs I knew from radio, etc. If you know the lyrics it will help. I also think songs that involve different notes so you have to move around the harp. Single note play is the foundation that you will build on I/M/O. If you can avoid playing too fast like I did and had to really work on to slow it down great. I do believe avoiding grooving faults waste time.
Main thing is enjoy.
Opps Just saw your post. Did not intend to repeat a point you already made.
