I have been playing the harmonica for a little over a month and have been learning all my favorite songs I grew up listening to but one of my favorite harmonica song of all time Honky Tonk Heroes by Waylon Jennings doesn’t seem to have any tabs. I don’t know if I’m bad at looking or if it’s an obscure song but I would be extremely great full if someone can find the tabs for it.
here’s something to try: even if it’s not on harptabs.com, if you can find a midi file of it, you can use Harping Midi to get the tabs - be sure to disable the various layers/tracks/whatever till you are left with the main one which you will play. cheers!
I had this problem for years with my Terry McMillan songs. People seem to think that country playing is only about melodies or playing fast, but it’s a lot more than that from an actual country player’s perspective. So I’m happy for you going into the accompaniment approach to country harmonica.
The solos are played on a High G harmonica in second position (key of D). High G is a rare key to come by in terms of harmonica keys, but it does have its uses. I highly recommend the High G’s from Kongsheng like the Mars and Bluebird models, maybe the Lee Oskar too. I actually got my first High G many years ago because I wanted to play some Terry McMillan songs with that harp key.
