I came across a two part interview with Lee Oskar. I find his outside the box or non-traditional thinking rather interesting. While listening to him talk and play, I am thinking to myself that he is not just a great musician. He designs, understands music from a broader perspective, and clearly has passion for what he does. Now I understand why Luke is drawn to the Lee Oskar harmonica. Mr. Lee has wisdom and as you listen to him, I realize that he is the Yoda of harmonica. I enjoyed the two videos. Here is part one. Hi BlindFarmer, I mucked about with a couple of different brands and found the Lee Oskar seemed to fit my mouth shape, and so settled on that brand.
During mucking about on the net, I saw that there was a special edition of Lee Oskar / Mick Jagger collaboration special edition harps being produced.
For no other reason than giggles I got one, then again for no other reason I got another (C & F). They came from England, and cost me about $25 more than my C I bought locally.
Today I received an email saying that the popularity was so vast the are producing a second series. Different coloured plates, so I guess you can tell editions of one from another.
Google the LO/MJ for the details.
Might even lash out and get another, just because I can.
I saw that harmonica online. I saw it in C for $70 vs. $50 for the normal version. Pretty slick looking.
Went to the website last night after posting (plenty of late night sport on at the moment The British Open and The Ashes test match, lots of Aussie content) and checked out V2. It only comes in C unless you want to fork out over $500 for a set of three and special case. I notice the price has gone up considerable as well, now asking $118 Aussie dollars plus freight. Pretty sure I paid around $90 for mine. Looks like Mick, being the Financial guru of the Stones, is cashing in where ever he can. It was once said that he told the promoters of a gig, 5 minutes prior to the start, that if the Stones don’t get a cut of the of the car parking revenue of the event we aint going on. Guess what happened??
I am not really a collector of anything. I tend to be more practical. For example, I bought a solid brass Zippo lighter with Zippo butane insert. I deliberately patina’d the brass to make the lighter look old and used. LOL I keep it in my pocket around the farm to use for burning the end of rope, lighting the burn barrel, etc.
