Greetings. I have an old (80-100 years?) Hohner Echo Lite double-sided tremolo harmonica. It does work but it could use some repairs: the inside is missing a couple nails, etc. I was wondering if anyone might have a recommendation for servicing. I could mail it out for servicing but ideally, I’m looking for someone in Connecticut, although Rhode Island and southern Massachusetts could work as well. It would make sense to replace the harmonica but it has great sentimental value. Thanks in advance.

HARPSMITH is a great tech. He is very pleasant to deal with and helpful. Cannot say if he works on older harps but if he does I think you will be pleased with his work. Google up HARPSMITH or his site. He responds to all inquires.

What all are you wanting done to your Echo Lite?
Feel free to send me a message detailing what you know is wrong with the harp. I have several different Echo tremelo harmonicas and have worked on them. I am also restoring several old Marine Band (Pre-war) and Marine Band Full Concerts (Octave harps). I would be glad to talk with you and see what you want done to the harp.

I use Kinya Pollard at HARPSMITH. If you contact him he may pick up or leave a V mail. he will call you back. He takes care of many of the big boys that play all over. He treats the beginner as if they were professionals in terms of the quality of his work. I have never gotten a harp back that did not play exceptionally well. He is also very helpful if you have a question regarding the harp. I was getting a G from him and he was going over a harp for a player that was going to be on SNL the following week, I told him to take his time as I am fairly new. Made no difference. He will tune your harp to the type of music you play and do it well. Extremely nice and very professional. I do not ask him what a tuning cost as I know he will be fair and the harp so much easier to play in terms of responsiveness Sounds great. No matter your experience level everyone gets the best. You can watch some of his post on U Tube to get an idea, I remember you like country and he can tune your harp for this type of music. Hope it helps. I am still trying to get I Am So lonely I Could Cry down pat but Charlie McCoy adds some notes and has natural ability and six decades of experience on me. I will never be as good as I would like but it is not for trying. I am trying to learn the long version of the Dances With Wolves theme song and its a beast. progress is slow but playing something that requires more learning is my favored way of improving. This one is a beast. Like billiards I played the toughest games and it pushed me up even though the game got the best of me for a while. it did get me into the big dance but its all over. The harp is my salvation s father time has taken all the things I did for years. I may never be good but it sure is god to see improvement once in a while. it comes in when I least expect it

I forgot to mention HARPSMITH collects old harps and may well know about as much to learn about them as there is. I had an old KOCH that I gave him. Hohner bought them out years ago but the one I gave him was too far gone.
