Hello everyone! Do you have a secret or favorite jam or practice spot? I love playing in nature. One is by a stream. It’s nice when there’s actually water flowing. The other is in a hollow tree that’s probably older than America has been a country.
So sick @Screamingchicken! What a blessed secret jam spot you’ve got there! I have a shack with a bed in my backyard that I can close all the windows to and lay down in the bed and play late at night. That’s one of my secret jam spots. The other one is I walk up this super steep hill beside my house. That has quite a lot of noisy cars and trucks going up and down it, and so it’s a great breath workout walking up it. It feels like a private space because there’s so much road noise, ironically, so I don’t have to get into weird head trips thinking maybe somebody hears me, and so I need to sound good, lol. Secret jam spots rule!
Actually I play mostly late in the evening shortly before bed time. It’s just winding down the day and relaxing and the wife enjoys hearing it.
Love to play at the beach, NYC’s Central Park and on my roof overlooking the city skyline!
Great topic @Screamingchicken . I also love playing my harmonicas in nature. I’m very fortunate to live in Mandurah, Western Australia, which is surrounded by waterways. There are several beautiful scenic spots within walking distance from home, where I sit and play. A couple of years ago I had a holiday further south in the state and visited a section of forest called ‘The valley of the giants’ Theres a tree-top walkway through a red tingle forest and I played ‘Annie’s song’ 40 meters above the ground in the tree canopy. Pure joy!
My jam spot is in my car*. I have speakers here and can play in the evenings/early mornings without and not to disturb anyone. I’m practicing sounds that are unpleasant to hear.
*while stopped, of course
I enjoy walking to.a pond near my house and playing for the ducks.. Always a great reception…![]()
Love harping in my jacuzzi hot tub. Great first thing in the morning or winding down at night.
hello @stangernyc1 I’m your neighbor just north in Rockland County . I was at 23rd St last night . Oh the traffic getting back to the GW …just wanted to say " Hi Neighbor ! "
I like to play anywhere and when time is right . Love my harps
Tristate traffic Thunder58! That’s why I keep a couple of harps in the glove compartment! Lol! I hear ya about anytime. Sometimes I’ll play waiting for the subway or on the street waiting for the lights to change if it’s kinda chill. People either say that’s cool or something positive but never bust chops! Best is when I play in the airport! I play real low or walk to where it’s quieter but can’t help but be heard. I mostly do it to make my wife cringe! On way to Ireland(officiated my niece’s wedding), I played at the airport and at the wedding a girl came up to me and said you’re the dude was playing at the airport! Sounded good! Lol! Told my wife,”See, I’m not that bad!”. LMAO! I’’m a little over 2 years in now pretty much exclusively tongue block and play blues so first learning, bending and repeating the same stuff(we’ve all been there and know how that goes!)it’s a miracle she hasn’t thrown me out!! She’s a saint!!! And my harmonica playing is at the bottom of the list of reasons I should be thrown out!!! Ha!
I keep a whole set of Eastops in my car too …LOL including a Chromatic which is a gift for a friend for next time I see her . A Special 20 in C and a high G harp too . I go to a harmonica group on Fridays in Pleasantville ( Westchester County ) and at 67 yrs old , I’m the youngest one there
… It just has given me a chance to play again which is what I enjoy
Recently, I had the good fortune to go on a cruise. I found my secret spot in front of Johnny Rockets
early in the morning.
No one around, great acoustics
and a bathroom nearby

Thanks! Im sure theres some beautiful places in hawaii!
That sounds amazing
Yes! I love playing in my vehicle as well
@HarpinBobbyMcB can we see a photo? When I was a teenager, there were a couple of places I loved to go late at night: an archway between two buildings downtown, and a tunnel underneath the train tracks.
