Self abuse Learning the Orange Blossom Special

I am trying to learn the Orange Blossom Special and this one is a beast. I am approaching this by learning a line at a time. It is quit a workout and frankly frustrating. The initial part is not so bad but the very fast lines are proving to be a real challenge. If anyone has learned this one any suggestions are welcome. I know the song but getting all the notes in memory is proving to be tough. All I know to do is repeat the lines as long as I can and put in a couple hours a day. No players near me and other than U Tube I am solo. Its the rapid single note lines that are now getting the best of me but the fight is not over. I did land a couple of good shots today but round two starts tomorrow.

From one Texan to another. Take it slow, once you get a section, work on speeding it up a little at a time. You will get it. Just take small bits at a time.

Single note portion is the first art tackled and its slowly coming around. The initial chords are hard to determine how the good players are playing them as its a faster portion of the song. Once I get this art down practice should get me across the goal line. Spot on about small steps. I live right in to middle of the state where the 7/4 flood hit. I was playing Have You Ever Heard The Rain when it started and I I have definitely heard the rain. I am on the high ground and fine but our little town is gone. No post office or store to get ice cream. What a night that was,

I watch Charlie McCoy play it and he can raise the roof. Same for Buddy Greene. I wonder how long it took them to get to their level. I never will. Started the harp at 68. Both of these guys are good ole boys and are class acts and salt of the earth folks. If I get to the point someone can tell what I am playing in a year I’ll be happy.
