Sirius Dub by Art-X

Good day. I’m beginner harmonica player and i found a truly good track for practice and i humbly presume get to ability to play it some day. The main question here, how to transcribe this song by ear? As a beginner i don’t understand what i should do first, I’ve tried to play something similar, but it sounds wrong. I use G harmonica and there is beginning i can transcribe. Can you show me the direction? Thanks.

Hi @kota1921

The harp that would work best for the tabs you have given is an F (low F sounds super). The tabs you give are not completely correct. It should be:

+4 -4 -4 -4 -5 -6
+6 -5 +5

As a beginner, you should either use a harp in F and be prepared to spend time finding the correct notes – but that is an excellent method for learning and getting better at harp playing. Using the G harp will be much too difficult. Better would be to use a keyboard than to use the G harp.

Another option for this beginning part is to use a Bb harp, where the tabs would be:

-2 -3" -3" -3" +4 +5
-4 +4 -3

But I think that might be too difficult if you are a real beginner because the -3" (three draw full step bend) is definitely quite difficult for beginners.

So my tip is to get an F harp and see how well you get on with finding the correct tabs. I will not provide any further tabs because it is my belief that you will profit more by working them out yourself. You should, however, feel free to post here what you have found and we can confirm or correct your results.

Best regards,

This would be SUPER easy on a Lee Oskar Natural Minor key of Gm. (Hohner confusingly calls this key Cm.)

The tabs would be -1 -2 -2 -2 -3 -4
4 -3 -3"

I think you’ll find this song VERY fun to play on a Natural Minor harmonica!
