I always loved Terry McMillan’s blues harmonica playing the best because of how raw and soulful his usual playing style is. He was one of those players who played every lick from the heart and still had the technique down. Terry was not a “pure” tongue blocker, but he managed to make lip pursing only blues harp sound awesome. Terry was and still is my biggest influence on the harmonica because he shaped my sound so much.
I just recently got this 1985 Terry McMillan album that is very hard to find, but it has some amazing tracks on it. Like this one titled “I Can’t Stop Rockin’”, which is the blues track off the album. It has some of the most emotional blues harmonica playing I’ve ever heard on a swing blues. Terry had managed to make energetic harmonica playing sound bluesy.

@KeroroRinChou wow a lot of really killer playing there, thanks so much for sharing this!!!
Pretty amazing how he’s gone back and overdubbed playing harmonies with himself as well. Todd Parrott did that quite a bit on his album as well.

Well, Todd is heavily influenced by Terry so I can see the resemblence there.
