Too much teeth?

I know theeth can be an obstacle with other activities however, when it comes to playing harmonica will dentures effect your playing? I Currently don’t have implants or dentures. Should I wait for them or continue on without them? Dont want to learn bad habbits. Thanks Eric.

I don’t think it makes all that much of a difference but going on old blues players many of them didn’t have all their teeth and they played well enough.

Hi @lasersolutionswi … I have a few teeth, a full denture at the bottom and an almost full one at the top. I was like that when I I started learning to play a few year ago. The only issue I’ve had is that sometimes, mainly if I’m really going for it, the dentures seem to sucked out of position and head for the harp comb . This can be a bit disconcerting and when I know I’m going to be playing I use a little fixative to keep the plates in place. (The fixative is very sticky so using too much isn’t the best idea - try spitting glue into your harp:grin:).
Generally, I don’t feel that having false teeth has any effect on my playing but as I never played with my own teeth I don’t really know.
Something to chew on …

@lasersolutionswi I just tried with no dentures … No difficulty playing and maybe the tone was even a little better (bigger mouth cavity? Harp deeper in mouth? Dunno). Essentially the same with or without the gnashers!

I also hear a “bigger” tone without them. I will leave well enough alone for now. Thanks for the input guys! Eric
