Wanna Learn Some Easy Country?

A couple of months ago I shared Alex Paclin’s video Top 7 Country Harmonica Riffs. Man, that video was jam packed with a lot of challenging stuff. Looking for something a bit easier?

Ask and ye shall receive. In this lesson, Alex serves up 2 nice melodic tunes by the great Charlie McCoy, both on C harmonicas, and both requiring zero bending.

The first is Charlie’s cover of the upbeat 1961 hit Hey! Baby by Bruce Channel, and the second is the lyrical traditional American folk ballad, Shenandoah. Hope you have fun with these great tunes!

By the way, the major pentatonic scale is a GREAT country-sounding scale. Here are the tabs for that scale on a C harmonica…

1st Position, key of C:

4 -4 5 6 -6 7

7 -6 6 5 -4 4

2nd Position, key of G:

6 -6 -7 -8 8 9

9 8 -8 -7 -6 6

P.S. If you want to learn the pentatonic scales from the top to the bottom, check out my forum post on the subject.
