I’m sorry to see that you haven’t had a reply. As I know very little of music theory, I’m not even sure what a tab generation site is, so I don’t know how to answer. I sometimes tab out a tune myself, by listening to each note, one by one, and try to copy the sound. Then write down the tabs one by one, until I have the whole tune. Occasionally, I can play a whole tune by ear and never know what tabs I’m playing. Most often, I use tabs that other people have published, and I’ve assumed they produced the tabs in the same way that I do. So, a tab generation site sounds like something different. Does it convert written musical notes into harmonica tabs?
When you enter your hole numbers it allows you to add a note duration and places that note on the music staff. I am still prototyping it but will be finished soon I hope.
this is a screenshot of the GUI. The input tabs are for a 12 hole chromatic of a tune written in F. So, lots of slides required. Note, its important to tell the converter, via the drop down list, which key tunes is in that the tabs are for. This is not usually necessary in diatonic harmonica tabs cos they are key agnostic. But, chromatic harmonica tabs are not key agnostic.
Anyway, the converter basically does the following internally:
It converts the tabs from a tune in whatever key to the same tune in C. Then, works out what the chromatic tabs for that tune in C would be. It then converts those tabs into a set of Tabs for a tremolo in C. then puts those tabs into the output field.
But, as I said, a the tabs for a tremolo are actually key agnostic. So, you could pick up a tremolo in any other key and the tabs would still work. The tune would just be in that key instead.
I’m going to increase the number of harmonicas to include a 16 hole chromatic and 28 hole tremolo and possibly Richter tuned tremolo as well (though, I’ve never seen the point of Richter tuned tremolos). Also, i intend to allow for conversion form any harmonica to any other, note ranges permitting
