What song are you working on?

Mm, It should be in F# meaning a B harmonica but I haven’t had time to really try. I could the first few notes. I only tried for a few minutes. It also says it can be played in D which would mean a G harmonica.

Thanks Toog, very helpful as always.
I’m leaning toward my G harp now. Sounds good overall and it’s easier to play those high notes without sounding so shrill.

Hey @HarpinBobbyMcB, long story, but I’ve been asked to jam along to Hawaii 5 O with a drummer. Sounds like fun, except that I can’t play it. My search led me this old post of yours. Did you find the tabs somewhere or did you tab it out yourself?

Originally key would probably be on a Bb.

Now I can’t remember… :thought_balloon:

I only remember not playing it too well. I think because of a bend on the low end.

I’ll have to give a go again :facepunch:

Attempt # 2 at a solo in public. Had the courage to get on stage this time. Played from the wings last time. I kinda froze up and went with "“less is more” any criticism is welcome. Friends and family lie   https://youtube.com/shorts/bFOBe9aUXjg?si=YMJ5JJBkPzmTzdiY

Good job, I’m only an amateur player but it sounded fine to me. It does take some courage. Well done.

The support and encouragement from stangers is the best part of harmonica.com thanks guys!

Nothing wrong with that !! In fact, it’s usually the best approach unless you are already really good. More harpists should follow your lead and stop trying to “take over the show” before they are qualified enough to do so.

Keep up the good work!

That makes so much sense to me. Thank you!

Yup! It sounds “natural,” I bet people are sitting were thinking “yup, that is indeed a harmonica.” Great job!

@lasersolutionswi Sounds great man! I’m feeling it which is all that matters. You’re playing with soul.

How to make it better? Work on the -6 as a way to climax your solo. Check this out:

I’m currently working on a solo for Oye Como Va to replace the nutty keys solo. Mimicking Santana’s guitar solo seems to work using a Gm harmonica and worked quite well live. Luke’s video really helped lots and it’s great fun to play. If anyone has a further ideas or links, I’d be grateful.

A Gm harmonica works if you avoid the 5 blow and favor the -5’ bend instead. Or another great option would be 3rd position on a Low F harp. Did you already see this?
