What’s you favorite ‘travel kit’ of harps to take with you everywhere. I like a Chromatic, and my C and A harps. I feel like this is a really well rounded mix, but wanted to know if you guys had other ideas…?
Once I’ll be able to travel again, pretty much just the Paddy G - I find that I play it 90% of the time anyway.
I usually have three harmonicas with me, when I go for my long walks: A, Bb and D. I’m not that keen on C, it’s a bit high for my liking. I realise that D is even higher, but there’s a couple of tunes I play that require a D harp, so I practice them.
Lately my bag of 16 has been going with me everywhere! ![]()
But on a long walk, I just take 1. Usually C, A, or G.
I usually carry my trusty Hohner C like loose change! If over-nighting I also take my A & G, along with my B2B course notes from Luke C. Doesn’t hurt to revisit the key course highlights.

I have been trying to figure out what to use as a small travel case as well, also what keys to take. Right now I have a small zipped case that came with a Hohner bluesband set of 7 that were the first harmonicas I bought when I started learning. I also just purchased a small tactical back pack for a upcoming trip to Nashville to the Josie awards conference and awards ceremony that takes place at the Grand Ole Opry. Our band was nominated for best rock group of 2025, we are competing against 14 other bands, so fingers crossed.
I made a custom case for my harps. I probably should post a picture at some point.
It is hand sewn, and holds 6 harps in separate pouches, with a single zipper closure. I haven’t seen anything similar to it for sale.
A tool that would enable me to thread my Special 20 face plates quickly. Those tiny pieces are tough but I do make sure the numbers are on top before treading the small screws and nuts.
I generally like to have my Koch Chromatic G with me and either my Crossover C or my Blue Moon Double Reed plate Special 20 C. Those are my favorites.
Went to dinner and the theatre last night took my b flat with with me.
