Which songs are you listening to?

Hi PAScal @djpas

As far as I know, that has not been suggested … I think that the idea is important enough that you should post it as a new thread/topic with the necessary info for those (like me) who have little or no experience using Zoom. :point_left:

@djpas PAScal,
this Christmas song was completely unknown to me until last year. But I got to know it two years ago through @Slim and, as a big thank you, learned it on the harp and recorded it a year ago.
For me it is the special Slim Christmas song and will always be.

Great stuff @djpas thank you so much for posting this. Really lifted my spirts. Great harmonica playing and fun going into You Are My Sunshine and the other quotes.

@AstridHandbikebee63 very nice. Thanks for sharing. What tuning harmonica are you playing?

Hello @Luke,
thank you for your positive review!
I play the song with a Hohner Rocket Amp in the key of A.

If I remember correctly, I had recently bought the model in the keys of C, G and A.
Since the song starts quietly and soulfully, I discovered that playing it quietly and slowly can also be physically demanding .

I wish you and your family a good and healthy 2024.

Many greetings from Astrid :woman_in_lotus_position:

And what key/position are you playin in?

Hey @Luke, I think I played it in the key of E in 2nd position back then.
It was before Christmas 2022 and today it could be different :slightly_smiling_face:, which is the beauty of music.

I was looking for stuff to listen to. This guy is amazing. I get that the style will not be everybody’s favourite but the technique is amazing. Sounds like bagpipes with the drone.

Get past the 2 minute mark. Then it speeds up. My great gran lived with us. She came from near Aberdeen. My other gran was a highland dance champion. I was saturated with this stuff as a kid. I like it in small doses or if everyone is dancing.

@toogdog AWESOME! Here’s another great reason to learn tongue-blocking! Love it. Thanks for sharing. Can’t do THAT lip blocking.

Back when I was beginning to play harp, I was thinking about new keys to buy and I heard this song on my Music Shuffle

@Luke told me I would need an Ab harp and play it in 2nd position for Eb.

It took me a while, but now I’ve got a Hohner ROCKET :rocket: in Ab which I can keep in my pocket whenever I want to:

Keep on Chooglin’

:sunglasses::notes:

John Fogerty Rocks it in this live video!

He starts grabbing for his harmonica at about 2:22 just before ripping it for about 3 minutes, only to follow with some mean guitar🎸 to wind down this incredible classic song from CCR.

Any Creedence Clearwater Revival fans out there?

Hi Bobby @HarpinBobbyMcB

I find this strange because when I play the video I need to use an A harp in 2nd positionnot an Ab harp. Does it sound in tune for you when you use your Ab harp?

It sounds good to me with the Ab, but my pitch isn’t perfect, I’ll give it a go with my A harp and let you know :+1:

I do believe you are right @Slim!

It does sound much better on the A harp in 2nd position, as you say. Amazing what that half step does. On the Ab, it does seem just a little off, I had never noticed.

Your perfect ear caught what mine could not! :joy:

On the harptabs.com site it does show the harp to be an Ab, but I found at least two other places showing the key to be an E, so the A harp in 2nd position seems correct :dart:

Good job @Slim

Yes Harpin Bobby, I’m a Credence fan, but I don’t recall hearing that song before. It sure has that unmistakable credence sound though. I’m currently trying to learn ‘Have you ever seen the rain?’ No actual harmonica in the song of course but a classic tune.

Last couple of days I’ve listened to some songs by ‘Smokie’. Do you remember them?
An English band but the lead singer, Chris Norman did a great little song with your girl Suzzie Quatro. ‘Stumblin In’

Yeh. Great song. Did you know Quatro is playing Fremantle gaol in March. I’m going. She’s with The Angels and Cheap tricks.
