X-Mas tune with Howard Leyy

About 3/4 thru reading book, Harmonicas, Harps and Heavy Breathers and now at interview with Howard Levy so did abit of U-Tube research on him and when he was with Bela Fleck. Anyway . . . since it’s closing in on X-mas, here’s a pretty neat christmas blues tune he did. Christmas Blues - YouTube

Also with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, "The flight of the cosmic hippo is quite interesting. at about 2:33 into song, the harmonica playing into a drink can is quite unique, Bela Fleck & The Flecktones - Flight of the Cosmic Hippo - YouTube

Howard perfected his “overblow” . . . quite impressive!

Yeah my introduction to Howard Levy when I was a teenager was the Bela Fleck album Flight of the Cosmic Hippo. I LOVED that cassette! I will never be able to play like Howard, but I love listening to him.

Yes, that cup technique is cool. Kinda like a plunger mute on a trumpet or a trombone. In fact, there is a product from Roly Harp called the Harmonica Wah that you might enjoy check ing out.

Rock on,
Luke
