Introduce Yourself!

Welcome Steven I hear ya about the sheer panic part, cause that’s kind of how I got started playing in a band. Nice to have you hear lots of good people and info.

Hi Luke,

Cool site I happened on today! I am nowhere near as pretentious as my user name. I was christened with it many years ago by the singer (may he RIP) in the very first band I was ever a part of and is really just an incorporation of my chosen passion and my last name. I keep the moniker to honor his memory. It’s also pretty cool! LOL

I’ve enjoyed your YT vids for a while now. I’m from Orange County, CA. Long time pucker player while working on my TB journey. I’ve fronted a few classic rock/blues bands over the years and love our instrument of choice. A very wise man told me years ago when I first picked up a C harp: “Ah the harmonica. One of the easiest instruments to learn to play but the hardest to master”. He wasn’t lying!

Hi Luke I am blowing in harmonicas since decades but never started really to do anything else than old songs my father teached me long time back. I would like to follow some blues courses on line as I am living in the Middle East and Asia most of the time . Just if we could find a solution that would be great. > let me know how /Thanks- Paul- (French)

Aloha no Honolulu

I’ve been able to bend notes and pull single notes out of a C harp for years. I’ve recently started playing with an informal jam group once a week. One key didn’t cut it so, I invested in a C D G set of Polars by Harmo. I’m a blues fan and I immediately fell in love with the low end of the G harp. It just sounds full and right to my ear. I’m planning to focus on the G until I can sight read sheet music.

Howdy from Tasmania!

Hey everyone, I’m Bruce—just joined the harmonica.com crew and already hooked! Luke’s lessons are top-notch—clear, fun, and he somehow makes even my squeaky beginner bends feel like progress. Hats off to the man—he teaches like he’s got a harp in one hand and a coffee in the other!

Now, full disclosure: I’m a lifelong Bob Dylan fan. Met the man himself back in 1986 and had a quick chat. Didn’t change my life completely, but let’s just say the harmonica’s been calling to me ever since… though it took me a few decades to answer. Slow train comin’, right?

I’m here to learn, laugh, and blow some notes that don’t sound like a goose with a sinus infection. Looking forward to connecting with you all and trading tips, tunes, and a few good stories.

Catch you in the forums,
Bruce

@whitetower1080 Welcome to the forum! Glad to have you here.

@Stephen YES!! It elevates the atmosphere. So happy you are experiencing this, and PLEASE let us know how we can help!

Right on @harrpoe! We don’t get to chose our own nicknames! Cool you’re getting into TB-ing.

@Paul_Rivet you could certainly check out Beginner to Boss as there’s a money-back guarantee. Zoom lessons with @davidkachalon could be another great option, even with the time difference, I bet you could work it out. I love Ronnie Shellist’s teaching - you could check him out.

@Stradigy101 welcome to the forum. So glad you’re investing into your creativity. Rock on! :sunglasses:

Aloha @cherokeekane and welcome to the forum. So glad you’re jamming. That’s what it’s all about! I’m curious, why are you wanting to learn to read sheet music?

@blansdell welcome to the forum my friend! Thank you for your kind words. I really appreciate it! Cool you love Dylan. Did you see my recent vids about him?

Hi Luke,

Thanks for the reply! Yep, I’ve been checking out the latest Bob Dylan lessons—great stuff. I’ve been practicing between sessions, especially working on “Heart of Gold” by Neil Young and some Dylan tunes.

I’ve got a mate who’s a much better guitar player than me, so the plan is to eventually jam together—me on the harmonica. It’ll take a while to get there, but we’re making progress!

I’m currently up to the Mannish Boy lesson, and it’s made a real difference—especially with holes 1 and 2. Practicing that bit over and over has seriously improved my tone and control. It just proves that practice really does pay off—but it’s even more fun when you end the session playing something that sounds cool!
Thanks again cheers Bruce

I’m also living part of my time in a very small town called Rimrock, Arizona. It’s fun to learn harmonica in the middle nowhere in USA.

Hi everybody.
I’m Rui and I’m 61. I come from Portugal, even though I was born in Africa and actually live in the UK.
I decided to learn something new and interesting, so I opt for an harmonica because I really do like the sound of it. I bought a brand new Lee Oscar diatonic C in an auction… a bargain.
I’m just starting and have absolutely no knowledge of music theory whatsoever.
I just hope I can learn enough so I don’t sound annoying and enjoy myself and also others around me if possible.
At the moment I’m really on a tight budget, otherwise I would engage on some lessons… maybe in the future, who knows ?! Any ideas on how I can learn and improve ?
Thank you all. Cheers !

Not a young man anymore. Always wanted to play. Never too late. .Finally bought the harmonica about a year ago and just started the course. Having fun and like your style of teaching. I do a lot of walking. I thought maybe a good time to practice. Any reason not to do it then (other than others having to listen at this point)?
