Here is a pic of that harmonica just for reference, Amy you are right, the tines are rounded, not the holes.

@Luke ,

There are several current diatonic harps with round holes, Kongsheng Mars being one of them, and JDR makes a few as well.

But @lanceborofsky, I can tell you with some confidence that if you found the Orchestrer to be easy to bend, the roundness of either holes or tines were unlikely to be the cause.

Easy bending comes mainly from how well the harp is set up, and how airtight the reedplate is to the comb. Leaky air and poor gapping are the chief causes of difficult to bend harmonicas of a given make.

Across makes, other factors can come into play, but that is a much longer discussion and an an area where my knowledge comes from playing experience rather than actual research.

Hi Brother, I’m on Level 2 Lesson 8. I’m absolutely loving it. I’m trying to get a handle on the train sound - which was one of free lessons but I keep going back to get a handle it. Thanks friend for checking in. I appreciate the support. What level are you at - or have already finished the course?

I finished the course but go back to it often to recap or play the extras tunes. Train sounds are good practice. Search out @davidkachalon posts here. He’s the train man. I got a lot from the course, Lukes free videos and this forum. You will continue to enjoy it I’m sure

@charleslanobucklin - Yeah if you do a search for “train” all of @davidkachalon’s posts on the subject should come up. You might also wanna consider taking a private lesson from him if you’re into the train. He’s a train king. I’m actually taking a lesson with him on the subject this Friday. :grinning:

@Degamma welcome to the forum bro. You’ve got good harps and good taste in music. You’re in the right place. Rock on! :sunglasses:

Hey, new here. Not sure if I’m doing this right. I’m a pretty average player, but I’d like to get a lot better. I apologize ahead of time if I ask any odd questions, LOL.

Welcome! You’ll enjoy it here and congrats on getting lessons to kickstart your playing. We were just up in Healdsburg and Geyserville a week ago. Sonoma county is such a beautiful place. Lucky guy! If you ever have a chance to see him, Brad Wilson (Kim’s brother) is one of your neighbors (Cazadero?). Great harmonica player and furniture artist. His band, the Rhythm Drivers was impressive.

Thank you, Brother - I’ll check him out if I hear he’s playing locally. Sonoma County is a beautiful place and I’m damn lucky to be here.

Hi
Welcome. I’m guessing you live in London? I’m in Perth Western Australia. Many countries here. Yes its a friendly place here. I’m only an amateur who pretty much plays for the serenity it brings me. Others here can offer you a treasure trove of information. Lukes course was invaluable for me.

Hi,
Three year’s ago, we felt there was something missing in a couple of my cover band’s songs and I suggested adding some harmonica. I revealed that I used to play a bit many moons ago and that I would give it a go. Harmonica has really lifted the tunes - sometimes a solo, sometimes just a simple riff here or there.
It’s expanded to around a dozen songs in our sets now.
I’m still scrambling around in the world of technique and understanding the harmonica but having lots of fun after the first few gigs of shear panic!
