Hi all ,I always like to play like electric guitar , and i want to achieve similar things with chromatic harmonica, not necessarily high gain tone. So I am looking for a multieffect pedals,
i thinkg a harmonizer/ multivoicer is really a essential fx ( saw ppl use sax with boss ps 6 pedal and it sounds so good)
and some essential like gate/overdrive/fuzz/chorus/delay reverb/ oct/ amp /cab
But i saw most harmonica player use individual unit and amp. ( is it because multi dont works great with harmonica’s frequency?)
So i am wondering if any one can share their ecommendation/insights on multi effect pedal.
I have look on Boss ME90/ nux trident /helix pod go, etc. and willing to commit about 600-700$ , but i haven’t had a chance to try them with harmonica.
P.S.I had an audio interface and some headphones so i am planning to use them, might consider busking in the future too if i am good enough.
I don’t see any reason why a multiFX won’t work just fine with a harmonica. I don’t know if there’s still a perception of multiFX being a bit “cheap and rubbish” which hasn’t been the case for at least 15 years (unless you buy a really cheap and rubbish one from ali express or something).
It might take a while getting all the patches to respond nicely.
Given the amount of guitar players who spend the entire time hounding after the exact slight breakup sound the someone had 60 years ago I don’t think it’s a harmonica specific phenomenom.
I’m using a nux mini moddling amp which has all the effects you could want and it doesn’t sound like a nice tube number, it does have a ton of things to play with. I’m quite enjoying the auto-wah
I bought a Line 6 POD Express it has a lot of features and has regular updates via the computer, it’s very affordable right around 200usd after taxes. Just a suggestion to look at.
Yes, I did get a Zoom A1 Four, and although I haven’t used it enough to give it a full review, I am impressed with it. It not only has a good library of all the effects and preamp models you would want, the library contains models of some harmonica specific effects and models — like a Green Bullet emulator. People who tried Zoom digital effects pedals a while ago and were disappointed have picked them up again and are much more impressed. It is also relatively easy to connect to a computer an download more effects and arrange them as you like.
When I picked up mine, there were almost no harmonica based reviews, but that has changed recently. It is designed for a range of acoustic instruments like sax and violin, although the majority of reviewers were guitar players. Now you see more reviewers with a range of instruments using it.
A nice bonus is that it comes with an impedance adaptor, so you can use it with standard dynamic mikes like the ubiquitous Shure SM58 or SM57, or even a condenser mike.
