I just received my third Easttop harmonica today! I have them in G - D - and now E. I really like them, favorites in order G - E - D. These are just in a real sweet spot for me. I know there are much nicer harps than these probably, but I just really like the sound and ease of play of the Easttop.
I have two easttops - one in Paddy G and one in Low F. I think it was Jonah Fox who one said that eastop’s are in the category of harps “you enjoy playing”, and I 100% agree - they have a certain “fun” quality to them.

No beard for me. I’m 80 years old and my older brother had one when he got older and looked really nice and distinguished with it. I’ve started a couple of times to try to grow one and I just can’t get past that early stubble part.
Here’s the deal, I can’t read music and don’t really get the concept of keys. So the first one I ordered was the G because my mom had a Hohner in that key and I really liked it. Then ordered the D and it had a lot higher pitched low end and I didn’t like it as well, so when I ordered the E it was a total mystery to me what it’s sound would be. Well, it seems to have a lower pitch low end than even my G did. It’s hard for me to really pick a favorite between G and E. The main purpose for me buying harps in different keys is I would like to play with different songs on youtube or the radio so I need harps in different keys. It’s been interesting and fun.
Even though I’m not as active on this forum as I should be I really do enjoy it. My problem is I have so many interests, between Harmonicas, guns and disc golf, I have a lot of forums to follow and there just isn’t enough time to go around. But it’s a problem that I enjoy! ![]()
So far what you wrote makes perfect sense, I’ve pretty much been doing the same thing in regards of getting harps in more keys to play more songs/melodies.
Keys are like different ice cream flavors of sounds, don’t overthink it too much. Also, the letters denoting the keys (A/B/C/D/E/F ) DON’T actually “sound” like the keys, they may as well be Sound1/Sound2/Sound3/Sound4/Sound5
@wproct Key of E should be higher than Key of D. Perhaps you got a Low E?
In standard tuning, G is lowest and F# is highest (keys outside of those are labeled with “Low” or “High” before key name.)
My most recent harmonic Blues Shifter Game Changer C was mailed July 30 from
Bushman. Tracking indicates it arrived at my home today. I’m looking forward to arriving home 6 pm and looking for that elusive #3 note that I’m not able to bend yet.
Yeeeehaaaaaaa
Special 20 Bb. Sounds nice. But first I’m trying to teach my Sp20 un C…
This Bb has arrived here the same way. Don’t has any song recorded inside!! Hahaha….
So I have to watch Luke’s lessons everyday!
I am the same way and use U Tube as well, The music aspect is confusing. I am a numbers person and wish A the lowest and the keys go progressively higher. I have an A,B flat, C, and G. I do not like the D. I did not realize it but some of the songs I play in second, third and fourth position. I just enjoy playing them and learn what I can about music but it will never be a primary focus. I like my G as it plays well and fits several tunes I like. Once I know a song tabs are tossed as at this point good rhythm is my focus.
I learn by doing something and listening to a song I pick many times is much more beneficial to me than all the theory. No plans to play in a band or a bar. I really enjoy playing a tune after the rhythm is acceptable.
I agree the key assignment makes no sense.. I pick the harp that fits the tune and play what I enjoy. Its strictly about enjoyment.
