I was wondering if a “Honeytone” amp would work good for blues.
Im also getting the 008k Harmonica finally ![]()
Hi
Maybe repost this in the GEAR category.
I have no idea about this amp sorry
Yeah, @OlyverMoore1 it can work. I wrote about the pros and cons here
An amp’s job is to make what comes out of the mic louder. It may also change what comes out of the mic - intentionally (e.g. with effects) and unintentionally (e.g. distortion). The amp needs to suit the room(s) (i.e. it must be loud enough), the mic and your style of play. I recommend starting with a cheap mic and amp and working on your techniques for playing amplified. Don’t invest hundreds in a mic and thousands in an amp until you know the venues you’ll play in (dictates the required amp power), who you’ll be playing with (e.g. quiet duet or loud blues rock band) and what style of music you plan to play. My Bulletini mic and HarpGear HG35 amp were bought after a long time playing and many acquisitions that didn’t quite work. But I also play into the vocal mic (usually an SM58) straight into the PA at other gigs. Note that GAS (gear acquisition syndrome) means that there are always better toys than what you’ve got!
Thanks for the response, Maka. Love the answer. Helps a lot.
