@FreetheReeds thats awesome, great job. Thanks for posting

Thanks!

I decided to properly tackle the Terry McMillan version of ā€œAmazing Graceā€ and I love how this turned out. I recorded and mixed this by myself last night.
For my software: I used Waveform 13 for my DAW, ALSA sound drivers, and PulseAudio for my recording output. The microphone I used is a Blue Snowball and my harmonicas are Gen 1 Hohner Golden Melodies in C and Db. For those wondering, my laptop’s operating system is Linux Mint.

Beautiful, Amy !! That turned out really well !!!

And thank you for the info about the SW used. I also use Linux Mint but have not tested Waveform.

Killin’ it @KeroroRinChou!! Woo hoo!!! :raising_hands:t3: Crazy how far you’ve come. It’s was so fun to listen to. Love that growl at the end and your high blow bends. Yeah. Just so stoked on this!!! What is the backing track you used?

@Luke This is the Terry McMillan version, with the harmonica part removed with MVSEP.
I just noticed this about my harmonica tone. It now sounds very warm and raspy compared to my early Youtube videos (2020-mid 2022) which sounded more thin and bright. I don’t know what caused that shift in my tonal quality, but I do know that my lessons with Todd really helped me out. I’ve been a pucker player my whole life but my harmonica sounds like it’s groaning because I lower my jaw, open my throat, use tall and rounded lips, and breathe from my diaphragm. The growls, tongue blocking techniques, and throat vibrato are just little extras I like to throw in because I think they sound cool.

Great playing keep it up. Are using Linux with Waveform?

If so I’ll download it as I’m using ZorinOS.

After 19 months of B2B and hundreds of open jams and total immersion. A man seen me at open jam and invited me to play with his ESTABLISHED blues review! Offered to pay me to play with him! After I picked my jaw off the floor I accepted! The 18th is my 1st paid guest gig! Probly not a big deal to most of you however, NEVER in my wildest dreams did I think I would play for $! Thank you Luke Clebsch and B2B. And everyone that keeps answering my questions and encouraging me!

One happy Harper! Eric.

Thank you for listening, I really appreciate your comment. I love playing and will never lose that happiness.

I realize I’m jumping the gun a little here but I happened to be at home and wanted to take on your challenge so here’s a quick second take of playing with the backing track you sent. I realize there are plenty of mistakes and probably many other issues but I wanted to to share my version to see what you think.

Thanks so much again!
