My new harp!

Ok, I’m a beginner and these are the C harps I bought. Started with the Fender Blues Deluxe, but indeed a bit of a weak sound. So, do as the master does and I bought the Lee Oskar. What an improvement! What about the Hohner Special 20? Old brand, should try it. And almost equal to the Lee Oskar. Next I read about Seidel Blues Session Steel and was interested because of the stainless steel reeds. Even after cleaning several times I get a bad oily steel taste in my mouth. Also it’s quite a big chunk of a harmonica. The last one I bought was theHohner Golden Melody because of the convenient shape. (My hands are not too big.) Nice to play, good sound but it tends to trap the hairs of my moustache between reed plate en top plate. So in the end, most of the time I do my lessons on the Lee Oskar or the Special 20.

Ok lasersolutions, I give! The can/rag/knob contraption? Looks like some kind of homemade (cool) muting device. How do you use it?

It looks like a homemade microphone to me. I have always wanted to try and make one myself, eventually I will. I would also like to hear how that Peavey amp sounds.

It’s called a hobo mic. Or tin can can mic. It works however it is not that good. More of a conversation piece.

Last month I moved from the Blues Harps to the Special 20s. I missed those key labels on the Blues Harps though. So I found these 1/4 inch vinyl stickers. Pretty slick.

Very practical. I’ve ordered them

I found a fine tipped paint marker in white color, so I use it to mark what key the harmonica is in. Works great when the lighting is low at some of the places I’ve played.

Can you show the pic, how it looks?

I will try to upload a picture later today. I got it at Michael’s arts and craft store.

The Amp arrived this morning just having a mess around with it. Glad I got the mojo pad deluxe as well, other wise I’ll be pissing the neighbours off.

Thanks, Dai ! Sounds like a handy thing to have.

@Dai I also have that pedal it works good for me too. I recently got a better pedal board and hopefully this weekend will set it up. I have tried several overdrive or distortion pedals and none of them seem to work good for me. although they have all been guitar pedals. I might try a harmonica pedal when I save up the money, cause they are a little on the pricey side.

I know what you mean pricy for harp peddles. Lone Wolfe costs an arm and a leg. I’m thinking of getting some Beringer peddles, delay, EQ, got a joyo space reverb just need the 9v power supply for it. Question for you, have you tried a guitar noise gate on your peddle board? I saw a video of one where a guy used one for harp and it worked great. Let me know if you have.
